2019 football season approaching end with CIF playoffs
Serra football is coming to an end and even with the little bumps the football team had at the beginning of the season they learned how to work better as a team.
The last football game before playoffs was on Friday November 1st against Patrick Henry with a win for Serra. Everyone was excited for that game against our rivals with a score of Serra: 48 and Henry: 37.
Senior Broock Desta made 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in that game that helped Serra win. Desta talks about his personal performance during the football season and at the last game. “My personal performance was good. I stepped up and it was a big change, especially on defense. I have to make hits and i have to take hits, I'm sore a lot," said Desta.
Desta also said that he thinks that the team is looking good for playoffs with the record they have they just have to stay humble and work hard.
Everyone that went to the Patrick Henry game said that the game was really good and for a little bit of time it was a close game but then Serra worked harder and started scoring more touchdowns and became ahead to win the game.
Junior William Peterson helped Serra score by making 2 touchdowns at the Henry game as Serras linebacker and receiver. Peterson said, “I feel the season went pretty great, I also feel we could of done better against Santana but it was the beginning of the season and we were still learning to work as a team. The good performance will help us do well during playoffs.”
The Serra varsity football players feel that they have a lot of support and positivity from the community, and everyone is super excited and has faith of good out comes at playoffs.
Sophomore Madison Kern states that “It's exciting that were making it to playoffs because we're doing good and the football team is working hard and working better as a team. I was super excited after the Patrick Henry game because not only did we make it to playoffs we won against our rivals.”
